Sunday Was a Wet Day!!
It rained on Sunday!
We, that is the committee of The Pfizer Wind Orchestra, had spent the morning putting up our Gazebos in the field of Pfizer’s Sport Club and setting out the seating for our concert in the afternoon when the clouds started to thicken. The sky looked a bit dodgy but we went ahead with a short rehearsal but just as we were ending the rain started, and it rained and rained! The Gazebos were in danger of blowing away as the wind got under them and started ripping off the stays. So it was a quick transfer to the Sports Hall and a rush to get the Gazebos down and safely away. We managed it – Just – with the help of several parents of youngsters from the Trainee Band (thanks, it would have taken much longer without you), Orchestra and Trainee Band members.
I managed to take this photo of us taking the lot down.

The image does not do justice to the density of the dark grey clouds.
And then we set up again in the Sports Hall.
I am hoping to have a couple of images from the concert and will show them in due course.
But, here is one for my Janet and Henry – me keeping my Piccolo warm with my Piccolo Cozy between the First and Second half of the Concert.

(A bit of a blurred image unfortunately, Mae took it without her glasses!)
It really did it’s job well. Other Band members think it is brilliant, especially the space theme.
Are you sure you don’t want to take orders for more Janet?
A fuller report of the Concert will be posted when I have the images from the photographer.
We may have got wet but the rain did not dampen our spirits. In fact, I think it raised them. We all ‘mucked in’ and turned the situation round in short time and played an excellent concert.
Thanks every-one.
